FAQs about CVSGM

What is a typical day like at CVSGM?

  • After breakfast, the entire student body, faculty, and staff begin each day with vocal warm-ups and a devotion led by our school Chaplain or guest speakers.

  • Students attend class after devotions. Classes range from beginner to advanced levels, and students are placed into classes that best suit growth in their current musical knowledge, experience, and ability.

  • Whole group singing occurs at the end of the morning session so that students can apply what they have learned to a congregational setting. In addition, students rehearse selections at this time for the closing performance.

  • Lunch follows whole group singing where tasty selections are served buffet style with an unlimited amount of everyone's favorite- ice cream!

  • Afternoons provide additional class time and an opportunity for students to participate in peer ensemble groups.

  • After classes, recreation offers students an opportunity to connect with others in group games and activities, or they may choose to rest in their dorm rooms. Students who commute to campus may choose to leave for the day at this time, but other students who commute sometimes choose to return for the evening session as well.

  • Dinner is served before the evening session begins. Night classes along with sectionals are held. An additional large group rehearsal completes the day where a select few students are recognized for their excellence and effort. These "star" students are awarded an exclusive shirt to wear the following day.

  • Breaks are offered throughout each day where students may visit the "Super Store" for snacks, supplies, and CVSGM merchandise.
