Welcome to the
Cumberland Valley School of Gospel Music
Join us for our 40th session June 17-24, 2023
Welch College - Gallatin, TN
What is CVSGM?
The Cumberland Valley School of Gospel Music is an organization created for students of all ages who desire to learn how to read music and improve their singing abilities. Students from across the nation join together for one-week of worshipping God, singing both new and classic Gospel music, learning music-reading fundamentals, and fellowshipping with life-long friends.
Our 2023 session schedule will look a little different since we are changing from a two-week school to a one-week school. Students will check-in Saturday evening (June 17th). On Sunday morning, everyone will meet together for a devotion/worship service with classes to follow. Our Closing Program will be held on the following Saturday morning (June 24th). Students who pre-register will receive a schedule in their registration packet. More information will also be listed on our social media accounts.
CVSGM is held at:

FAQs about CVSGM
What is a typical day like at CVSGM?
-
After breakfast, the entire student body, faculty, and staff begin each day with vocal warm-ups and a devotion led by our school Chaplain or guest speakers.
-
Students attend class after devotions. Classes range from beginner to advanced levels, and students are placed into classes that best suit growth in their current musical knowledge, experience, and ability.
-
Whole group singing occurs at the end of the morning session so that students can apply what they have learned to a congregational setting. In addition, students rehearse selections at this time for the closing performance.
-
Lunch follows whole group singing where tasty selections are served buffet style with an unlimited amount of everyone's favorite- ice cream!
-
Afternoons provide additional class time and an opportunity for students to participate in peer ensemble groups.
-
After classes, recreation offers students an opportunity to connect with others in group games and activities, or they may choose to rest in their dorm rooms.
-
Dinner is served before the evening session begins. An additional large group rehearsal completes the day where a select few students are recognized for their excellence and effort. These "star" students are awarded an exclusive shirt to wear the following day.
-
Breaks are offered throughout each day where students may visit the "Super Store" for snacks, supplies, and CVSGM merchandise.

What should I bring?

Dorm rooms are provided to students remaining on campus overnight. Students will want to bring any linens, toiletries, clothing, cash for the Super Store, backpack, etc. needed for the week.
-
Students may bring their own snacks and/or small personal fridge for their dorm room.
-
A packing list will be sent to all students who pre-register by June 10th.
